Friday, September 4, marks the opening of the newest location for restaurant company, Illegal Pete’s. Opening in the historic Denver neighborhood of Park Hill, the location marks the company’s twelfth location and seventh in the Denver-metro area.
Despite starting the year with big plans to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary and to open a new Park Hill location in June, the company had to adapt in light of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. After completely shutting all locations for just over three months, it has taken Pete’s some time to get the “Pete’s vibe” back in light of new safety protocols and government regulations. This opening is a special one, marking a victory for the independent chain and a beacon of hope for the industry at present. Founder and President, Pete Turner, says of the process: “Like everything during 2020, it’s been surreal to build and open a restaurant when no one could see its progress.”
Pete, who has always taken a lead in the build-outs of his restaurants, took the same approach with the remodel of his newest location at Oneida Park in Park Hill. Aiming to honor the building’s history and the energy of the neighborhood, this location features a 360 bar and nearly equal seating inside and outside. While Pete’s is currently offering outdoor (patio) seating exclusively, this location can still accommodate plenty of families and friends.
“I feel fortunate that we have the opportunity to open a restaurant during this time … We are hopeful that we’ve built a business that will be embraced by the community. While this is a historic center, we plan on being part of that history for decades to come.”
Illegal Pete’s Park Hill is located at 2230 Oneida St. in Denver. They feature a full menu of build-your-own burritos, tacos, nachos, & more as well as a full bar that includes their house margs and their signature, Chauncey Margarita, which honors the original King of Park Hill and former Denver Nugget, Chauncey Billups.
Pete’s will be open for dine in, Pete’s Pickup, and delivery from 10:30am-10pm every day.
