Long John Silver’s, the quick-service seafood company, named Joseph Lutz its chief operating officer. He will oversee both the operations and development teams and report to chief executive officer, Mike Kern.

Lutz brings more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry to Long John Silver’s, holding positions from restaurant manager to senior management. Previously, Lutz was senior vice president of Airport Food and Beverage for HMSHost Corp., where he led development and operations for 200 national and local restaurant brands in 26 airports throughout the central and western U.S.

His experience shows his proven ability to lead the operational elements with success and vision,” says Mike Kerns, CEO of Long John Silver’s. “Joe will help energize and lead development and operational efforts that will take LJS to new heights.”

Prior to his role in airport food and beverage, Lutz was senior vice president of Motorways: Food, Beverage and Retail for HMSHOST Corp., and before that, he was vice president of Malls: Food and Beverage. Before HMSHOST Corp., Lutz served as senior vice president of operations for Cinnabon and director of corporate operations services, and Chicago region director for PepsiCo’s Taco Bell subsidiary.

Lutz received his degree from Ohio University. He will be relocating to Louisville from Seattle.
