Long John Silver’s is remixing Southern-inspired comfort food with its new Homestyle Buttermilk Cod. Premium seafood lovers can enjoy the taste of tangy buttermilk breaded whitefish with all the fixings. It’s the dinner mom makes, without the mess or hours in the kitchen. The new product is available May 29 through August 27 at participating Long John Silver’s across the country.

“The light flavor of the Cod balances really well with the tangy flavor of the buttermilk,” says Peter Czizek, vice president of culinary innovation and quality assurance. “It has a big crunchy bite, and the light, flaky fish smooths it out. It really is delightful.”

The new hand-breaded Homestyle Buttermilk Cod is made with 100 percent Wild-Caught Alaskan Cod and cooked to golden perfection. It is served with natural-cut fries and Long John Silver’s signature hushpuppies for $5.99. The basket can be upgraded with creamy coleslaw or another signature side to make it a meal.

“Buttermilk is such a great summer flavor and we’ve added convenience,” Czizek says. “Summer is meant for spending time with family, so we’ve got dinner covered.”

Long John Silver’s wild-caught Cod and Pollack come from the icy waters of the North Pacific Ocean, one of the best-managed and most sustainable fisheries in the world. LJS fish is fresh-caught and flash-frozen while still aboard the fishing boats to lock in the flavor. The fish is antibiotic free, hormone free, GMO free, additive free and contains no artificial color or flavors.
