Luke’s Lobster is thrilled to announce that it will debut a new shack in Chicago’s famed Merchandise Mart, at 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, #201, Chicago, on September 19, 2017. As the second Luke’s shack to open in Chicago, it will provide more residents and visitors alike access to the highest-quality sustainable, traceable seafood. A popular lunch destination, the city’s original Luke’s Lobster shack is located in the Loop (134 N LaSalle).

Luke’s Lobster will be celebrating their newest shack with several grand opening festivities, leading up to the 3rd Annual National Lobster Day on September 25. Each year, Maine Senators Susan Collins and Angus King petition the senate to name September 25 as National Lobster Day to celebrate lobster season while it’s in full swing in the state.

Special Merchandise Mart Grand Opening activities include:

  • The first 50 guests on September 19 will receive a free Lobster Roll.

  • To celebrate the opening, Luke’s will preview its National Lobster Day special menu item, the Lobstah, Lobstah, Lobstah, which will be available nationally for one day only on September 25th. Guests at The Mart will be able to purchase a limited number of the holiday menu item each day from Opening Day until National Lobster Day. The bundle includes a Lobster Roll, ½  Lobster Tail and a small Lobster Corn Chowder for $25.

  • A Maine fisherman, from Luke’s own co-op, will be at the shack to lead demonstrations with a live lobster  throughout the day on September 19.

Since its founding in 2009, Luke’s Lobster has repeatedly been hailed as the “best lobster roll” in Chicago and the country, most recently by USA Today. The vision of Maine native and third-generation lobsterman Luke Holden, Luke’s Lobster is a cozy seafood shack committed to serving simple dishes—including lobster rolls, crab rolls, shrimp rolls, award winning chowder, salads, poppy seed slaw and more—made with superior ingredients. From ocean to plate, Luke’s handles every step of the supply chain to ensure that only exceptionally fresh seafood is served.

Menu highlights include:

  • Lobster Roll – ¼ pound wild caught chilled lobster, toasted split top bun, a swipe of mayo, melted lemon butter and secret seasoning

  • Crab Roll – ¼ pound wild caught chilled Jonah crab, toasted split top bun, a swipe of mayo, melted lemon butter and secret seasoning

  • Shrimp Roll – ¼ pound wild caught shrimp, toasted split top bun, a swipe of mayo, melted lemon butter and secret seasoning

  • Clam chowder

  • Lobster & Corn Chowder

  • Wild Blue Salad – chilled, halved lobster tail, pickled wild Maine blueberries, shredded red cabbage, white beans, and roasted sunflower seeds on a bed of crisp arugula, with Tessemae’s all-natural honey balsamic vinaigrette

Luke’s Lobster takes their mantra of “Taste the Source” to heart. Luke’s Lobster hand picks their lobster directly from the lobstermen at the dock and immediately cleans and steams it to preserve its freshness and quality. Luke Holden also led the charge to establish the Tenants Harbor Fisherman’s Co-op in Maine, the first fisherman’s co-op to be vertically integrated with a restaurant group and processing company. Every single lobster, crab and shrimp roll served in Luke’s Lobster can be traced back to the exact dock that it came from.

The opening of the second Chicago Shack at the Merchandise Mart is an exciting new chapter in Luke’s Lobster evolution.
