Mamoun’s Falafel, the 40-year-old New York City institution that serves traditional Middle Eastern food, has signed a new franchise deal for New Jersey and New York. This new partnership will add to the Mamoun’s portfolio of restaurants, which are spread out between New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
The new franchisees, Marina and Magdy Yacoub, a father/daughter duo, worked with Hussam Chater, director of franchising for Mamoun’s Falafel, and Fransmart on securing a multi-unit deal in which they are seeking real estate in their designated territory. The Yacoubs anticipate having three units open in New Jersey and New York over the next few years. Regarding their choice to invest with Mamoun’s.
“Being Egyptian, we know how to prepare and find great Middle Eastern food,” Marina Yacoub says. “We’ve enjoyed Mamoun’s Falafel for so many years as customers, and when we discovered they began franchising, we knew we needed to be an integral part in keeping this legacy alive.”
Both Marina and Magdy Yacoub have backgrounds in the foodservice industry, working in both franchised and non-franchised establishments over the years.
Mamoun’s Falafel is focusing on its expansion efforts across the country through a combination of company and franchise owned stores, starting in home states of New Jersey and New York.
“We are excited about this opportunity,” says Hussam Chater, director of franchising for Mamoun’s Falafel. “We feel that the Yacoubs’ background, combined with their passion for the Mamoun’s brand and commitment to excellence, makes them a great fit.”
