Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffees & Smoothies has blenders turning and brewers steaming in anticipation of the grand opening of its newest location on August 2 on the Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base in Southern California. This marks the fourth franchise location on base, with two more in the works.

“This new store is really getting back to our original goal when we first joined the Maui Wowi franchise in 2006. I love the fact that it is just coffees and smoothies and we are able to offer healthy options to the Marines,” says Kathleen Yang, franchise owner of Maui Wowi Hawaiian.

The Hawaiian inspired dual concept serves made-to-order, fresh fruit smoothies that are all-natural and gluten-free. The company’s line of Hawaiian coffees come from regions of the islands that are known for their premium quality beans, like Kona, Maui, Molokai, and Kauai.

Yang was awarded the contract to be the base-wide coffee provider and has Maui Wowi locations throughout Camp Pendleton, including a flagship store with a teriyaki co-brand called Koa Teriyaki Grill located in the Plaza.

The most recent store is located in San Onofre, California, and the other two are in Del Mar Beach and the VA Hospital. Her fifth Maui Wowi location is slated to open in a few weeks in Camp Horno, all of which are inside the Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base.

Camp Pendleton is the Corps’ largest West Coast training facility, according to its website, and has an average daytime population of approximately 70,000 military and civilian personnel. It is located just 38 miles from downtown San Diego and is one of the largest employers in North San Diego County.

A VIP grand opening event will be held on Thursday, August 2, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the new San Onofre location and will feature a variety of entertainment.

The Maui Wowi Hawaiian Director of Regional Support, Barbara Putman, will be collaborating with Yang at the event, providing support to her local franchisee. The grand opening will include a prize wheel and giveaways of Hawaiian coffee and smoothies, as well as free product samples.
