Tocayo, a new taco stand concept, opened Wednesday, September 18 and a second location of the American gastro sports bar Butcher & Brew will open later this month at Halcyon in Forsyth County. Both concepts are from Maven Restaurant Group’s Founder Louis Soon, who is behind acclaimed restaurants South Main Kitchen, Butcher & Brew and Lapeer Seafood Market, and will be under the direction of Executive Chef Leo Garcia and Maven’s Culinary Director Andy Long.
Tocayo, Maven’s fast-casual taco stand inspired by the street food of Mexico, will feature a set menu of five different tacos including chicken, steak, al pastor, fish and vegetarian options like mushrooms as well as rice, beans, street corn and plantains. Two dessert options, a dark chocolate Mexican polenta and dulce de leche, will also be available from pastry chef Elise Vitale. The straightforward beverage list will include two rotating draft beers, two bottled beers and four craft sodas.
The taco stand’s aesthetic will incorporate grained white wood, rattan lights and butcher block countertops to reflect the relaxed vibe found in the streets of Tulum, Mexico, from which Soon drew inspiration for the concept. Guests will be able to order from the counter to enjoy at communal seating throughout Halcyon, an outdoor greenspace or stay awhile at the five bar stools that will flank the front of the taco stand.
Butcher and Brew’s second location will occupy a 3,000 square foot space at Halcyon, a new mixed-use development located in Forsyth County. Butcher & Brew at Halcyon will serve the same menu of made-from-scratch American pub fare with high-quality ingredients sourced from local producers, alongside their signature extensive rotating selection of draft beer, which will be unique to each location. At Butcher & Brew, guests can enjoy shareable dishes and craft brews on the covered patio overlooking Halcyon’s Village Green or while catching the latest game on one of the restaurant’s 22 televisions.
Butcher & Brew’s original location in Alpharetta’s Historic Downtown District made its debut in 2016 and has become known for its distinctive, eclectic beer list curated by Cicerone Certified Beer Server and Bar Manager Ryan Stockmal, who is also behind the beverage list at both Butcher & Brew and Tocayo.
“At Butcher & Brew, we focus on the people – both those working here and those eating here. We have created an environment where guests can have an upscale meal while cheering for their favorite sports team or connecting with friends over a craft beer,” says Soon. “Halcyon is the perfect home for our next location, and we’re excited to bring our high-energy concept to Forsyth County.”
