DES MOINES , Iowa – According to a memo obtained by Dow Jones Newswires McDonald’s Corp. (MCD) is considering a new machine that would do further automate the chain’s French fries cooking process. The machine would salt and bag the fries, freeing employees to take on other tasks and potentially allow franchisee to reduce labor costs by reducing workforce numbers.
Other potential cost and labor-saving measures such as self-ordering kiosks are also under consideration by the chain according to Dow Jones reports. But nothing is set for the immediate future.
