Meatball lovers can now feed their obsession this spring with the opening of a new, gourmet walk-up window restaurant called Meatball Obsession where the star of the menu is a delicious, all-natural meatball based on the original family recipe of Brooklyn native Daniel Mancini.

The flagship Meatball Obsession will open at 510 Sixth Ave. (at 14th Street) in New York City on March 28, 2012.

Meatball Obsession will serve three kinds of meatball to begin–its signature beef, as well as turkey and pork. The meatballs are served in a cup or a pocket sandwich for meals and snacks on the go.

Uniquely crafted toppings named after regions of Italy will be offered, along with custom bread baked exclusively for Meatball Obsession by Hudson Bread, an artisanal bakery from northern New Jersey.

Daniel Mancini has been meatball obsessed since he was a kid growing up in Brooklyn.

In 2007, he followed a dream to bring the original family recipe that his grandmother brought with her from Bari, Italy, to the masses via MamaMancini’s Meatballs and Sunday Sauce, a massively successful gourmet product that is now sold in thousands of retail and gourmet stores across the US.

“I’m very passionate about my grandmother’s meatballs,” Mancini says. “I left a 30-year career in fashion to follow this dream to bring my all-natural meatballs to people everywhere. Meatball Obsession kind of says it all!”
