Mici Handcrafted Italian, a family-owned, fast casual chain based out of Denver, Colorado, will open their fifth location in Lafayette, Colorado on Tuesday, October 2 at 11 AM. The newest addition to the Mici Family is located in the Waneka Marketplace, at 535 West South Boulder Road, Lafayette, Colorado.
With a menu featuring family-recipe pastas, handcrafted pizzas, salads and more—all available for dine-in, carryout, catering and delivery—Mici is a welcome addition to the Boulder County dining landscape.
In 2017, Mici brought on Partner and CEO Elliot Schiffer. Under Schiffer’s leadership, the company has streamlined operations and optimized the menu in anticipation of expanding to other areas of Colorado and beyond. In adding Lafayette to the Mici family, Mici has provided secure jobs at a fair wage to thirty new team members; Mici’s sixth location in Metro Denver is already in the works.
Schiffer says of the expansion, “Lafayette has so far proven to be a great fifth location for Mici—we’ve received such positive support from the entire community. It’s clear that they care about the quality of their food, and they are currently lacking in choices in the Italian space. We are thrilled to open, and provide the community with a place they can gather with friends and family, and share the Mici family’s traditional Italian food and hospitality.”

The space has undergone construction to transform the former Starbucks into the modern and inviting space Mici customers have come to love. The design, done in-house, includes a rustic ceramic wood grain floor, coupled with modern white chairs and lighting. The clean, white tiled walls also house the familiar, large-scale vintage photographs of the Miceli family, reminding guests that they are enjoying authentic, Italian family recipes.
Indoors, there is seating for 45. The renovation also included the installation of a spacious 50-seat patio, which will be enclosed for four-season seating in 2019.
The fifth and newest location joins the successful line of family friendly, affordable Italian eateries that focus on authentic Italian recipes using natural, unprocessed, clean ingredients.
The menu includes Mici’s handcrafted, all-natural pizza, in family-favorite combinations like The Giardino, topped with tomato sauce, mushrooms, garlic, roasted red pepper, spinach, artichokes, zucchini, and mozzarella; and The Vela (named for Miceli nieces Sofia and Francesca), featuring olive oil, family-recipe sausage, ricotta, and mozzarella. Pizzas are available in 10” and 16” sizes, with make-your-own and locally sourced gluten-free crust available options.
Pasta offerings include traditional Spaghetti and Meatball, featuring Miceli matriarch Rosalie’s Marinara and family-recipe meatballs; Tortellini alla Miceli, which is patriarch Jerry’s favorite, and features Parmigiano-Reggiano cream sauce, Prosciutto di Parma, and green peas; plus other family favorites like Creamy Pesto and hearty Cortonese, a Tuscan meat sauce over penne pasta.
The menu is rounded out by an array of Antipasti, fresh salads, and Dolce—Mici offers authentic Italian Florentine and Pignoli cookies, plus handcrafted Gelato from local gem Glacier Homemade Ice Cream and Gelato. Full menu available here.
