Miguel’s Jr., a family-owned Mexican quick-service restaurant founded in 1973, announced the addition of meatless menu items for Lent including Soyrizo Tacos, Soyrizo Quesadillas, Soyrizo Breakfast Burritos, along with long-time fan favorite Relleno Burritos. The new meatless options are made with Soyrizo, a 100% plant-based meat alternative that has the spicy flavor and texture of traditional chorizo sausage.

“For 50 years, our family has been dedicated to sharing my mother’s authentic Mexican recipes and the warmth of our culture,” says Javier Vasquez, CEO of Miguel’s Jr. “We are always looking for new ways to make our menu more craveable and inclusive for all of our guests. Soyrizo allows us to share the flavors of Mexico with our plant-based fans and anyone looking for meat-free options.”

Soyrizo is made from non-GMO soy and plant-based ingredients mixed with potatoes – capturing the savory spices and zesty taste of traditional chorizo yet contains no meat, dairy or eggs. Guests are able to enjoy classic Miguel’s Jr.’s fan favorites with Soyrizo like burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos and more. Additional flavorful and filling meatless options include the popular Miguel’s Jr. potato taco filled with seasoned fresh potatoes in a traditionally fried corn tortilla topped with lettuce and cheddar cheese, and ready for Miguel’s Original Hot sauce to kick the flavor up even further or opt for the Miguel’s Jr. Relleno Burrito, featuring an Anaheim chile relleno stuffed inside the famous Miguel’s Jr. Bean, Rice and Cheese Burrito. Guests can kick the flavor up a notch by asking for the burrito to be prepared with freshly-made Miguel’s Jr. hot sauce layered inside.

Whether you’re looking to try something new or observing Lent, visit Miguel’s Jr. to experience the highest quality Mexican cuisine that’s always made fresh to order.  The new meatless menu options are available at all Miguel’s Jr. locations for dine-in, take-out, drive-thru, online ordering, and delivery.
