Modern Market opens its sixth Dallas area restaurant on Friday, October 12, at 2100 Dallas Pkwy, Suite 126 in Plano. The farm-fresh, modern eatery serves artisan fare without the pomp – simple counter service with crave-worthy, scratch-made food.

To celebrate the opening, the restaurant is throwing a block party hosted by The Iman Project. The first 150 guests after 10:30 a.m. receive free lunch (an entree and beverage). There is also free cotton candy with lemonade, a candy bar, a succulent bar and other giveaways. Complimentary Gifts Include:

  • Succulent Bar by Plant & Sip
  • Cotton Candy with Lemonade by Haywood Cotton Candy Catering
  • Candy Bar by Sugarfina
  • Contest and giveaway from The Barre Code Plano

Three lucky winners who enter the Modern Market Instagram Giveaway will receive $150 in spending credit to the restaurant for themselves and five friends each. If guests aren’t feeling lucky, they can sign up for a free meal on the house. Each person can sign up for a maximum of two tickets with dates and times available through November 8. Donations from the soft opening on October 10 and 11 will benefit GROW North Texas, a local nonprofit that works to create a sustainable and secure regional food system.

Featured prominently in this location’s dining room is artwork from Austin-based Art from the Streets, a nonprofit that provides a safe and encouraging environment in which the creativity of homeless and formerly homeless people is nurtured through artistic expression and they are provided with a source of pride and income through the sale of their work.

Business hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. Weekday breakfast is served daily until 10:30 a.m. and until 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The newest restaurant makes 30 total units for the brand, which has other restaurants in Arizona, Colorado, D.C. and Maryland.

Modern Market reinvents the relationship people have with food. The fast casual out of Boulder, Colo. takes a holistic approach to health and wellness, putting their strongest focus on food quality and sustainable sourcing. The menu features handmade salads, warm grain bowls, toasted sandwiches, brick oven pizzas, hand carved plates and an easy grab-and-go breakfast. Natural proteins and sustainable salmon are also options to add to any menu item, as well as housemade lemonades. Locally vetted sources include Cuvee Coffee and Holy Kombucha. Modern Market supports its communities by hosting workshops and fundraisers in their restaurants, and donating a generous 50 percent of sales during fundraisers back to qualifying non-profit organizations.

Sustainability applies to more than just the food at Modern Market. Co-founders Anthony Pigliacampo and Rob McColgan believe in a sustainable staff as well. The restaurant pays each of its employees a living wage and provides free meals for employees on the job.
