Potbelly Sandwich Shop announced an agreement that will soon bring Nebraska its first shop. Currently slated to open in Omaha in early November, the shop will be located at 2056 N. 117th Avenue, conveniently situated near the intersection of 120th and Blondo in the North Park Shopping Center. The restaurant will feature its toasted sandwiches, hand-dipped milkshakes, and live, local music.

Craig Frantz, managing owner of the new sandwich shop, is a Nebraska native with close community connections and an extensive background in business management and operations.

“The Potbelly vibe will resonate well here in Omaha. It’s a natural fit,” Frantz says. “As a community-driven shop, Potbelly is going to find a welcome home here in town. It is a great feeling to be part of bringing Potbelly here for our longtime friends, family, and neighbors to enjoy.”

Craig will run the business with his brother and business partner Kendall Frantz. Kendall will help manage the restaurant’s operations, focusing on hiring and training new staff, and working to develop the unique Potbelly culture.

“We have always dreamt of opening a family business,” Kendall Frantz says. “My brother and I knew we wanted to open a restaurant that we could pass down for generations to come. Potbelly is the timeless concept that we have been looking for. There is nothing quite like Potbelly.”

The Frantz’s Potbelly Sandwich Shop will hire about 30 staff members, including customer service staff and managers. The restaurant’s operation and delivery hours will be announced at a later date.

“Craig and his team are the perfect addition to the Potbelly family. We are thrilled to share our delicious shakes and sandwiches with their neighbors in Omaha,” says Mike Walters, head of franchise development for Potbelly Sandwich Shop. “Every new sandwich shop is designed to resemble the community it resides in, and the Frantz family has the deep rooted community values Potbelly looks for when choosing franchise partners.”

Potbelly Sandwich Shop first opened in Chicago in 1977, and now includes more than 300 shops across the U.S. There are also 20-plus franchise shops in the U.S. and abroad, and the company is projecting more franchised shops to open in 2014.
