Newk’s Eatery will be unveiling three new, gourmet-inspired entrées featuring sushi-grade Ahi Tuna and whole, succulent shrimp—ideal for seafood lovers, as well as those looking for healthful, flavorful meal alternatives for the Lent season. The Ahi Tuna Sandwich, Ahi Tuna Salad, and Shrimp and Avocado Salad will be available February 16 through mid-May in nearly 80 Newk’s restaurants. These fresh selections join Newk’s year-round seafood favorites, which include Newk’s Signature Shrimp Po’boy, Lobster Crab Bisque, Spicy Shrimp Pizza, and Caesar Salad topped with grilled salmon.

Newk’s new seafood menu will be centered on the restaurant’s prime offering of hand-prepped Ahi Tuna steaks, marinated in a sweet and salty, Oriental-style blend of soy sauce, honey, and mirin. The filets will also be rolled in sesame seeds on all sides to give each bite a satisfying crunch. Newk’s Ahi Tuna Sandwich will feature layers of tender Ahi Tuna steak seared medium rare, served on toasted French bread, topped with baby arugula, and finished with a tangy dill sauce that is made in-house. For a lighter alternative, guests may order the Ahi Tuna Salad, which offers flash-seared tuna on a bed of spring mix greens, tossed with cucumbers, grape tomatoes, radishes, carrots, and Newk’s house-made ginger-wasabi dressing.

To top off Newk’s Lent-friendly menu, the Shrimp and Avocado Salad will showcase an indulgent medley of broiled shrimp, diced avocado, leafy arugula, green onions, and feta cheese paired with Newk’s homemade lemon-basil vinaigrette dressing. The Ahi Tuna Sandwich will be priced at $9.99, while the Ahi Tuna Salad will be sold for $12.99 and the Shrimp and Avocado salad for $10.99.

“A great deal of thought and research has gone into the careful selection of fresh, premium ingredients for Newk’s new seafood entrées,” says Alan Wright, vice president of marketing and franchise operations. “Several of these ingredients have been imported to ensure guests authentic, flavorful food experiences because we believe that quality flavor starts with quality ingredients.”
