On February 14, KFC Hawaii announced that its “My Funny Valentine” promotion will give a dozen couples the opportunity to enjoy a romantic, three-course lunch or dinner, complete with candles, tablecloths, silverware, and tableside service. There will be a lunch seating at 12:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m., both at the Kapiolani restaurant’s private dining area in the Diamond Head Room.
“We’re officially breaking every stereotype about what lunch or dinner should be on Valentine’s Day,” says Steve Johnson, general manager of KFC Hawaii. “We’re going all out to give locals the same special treatment, ambiance, and delicious food they’d expect at a 5-star restaurant without the hefty bill at the end.”
There are no reservations or dress codes. Couples can win their Valentine’s Day lunch or dinner for free on Island 98.5 (KDDN-FM) between 8 and 9 a.m. from February 4 to February 12. Contestants will be asked to play special dating-themed contests on the radio with “Wake Up Crew” hosts Rory Wild, Gregg Hammer, and Crystal Akana.
Winning couples also receive flowers from Watanabe Floral and pendants from J.E.S. Jewelry. One couple will win round-trip tickets to Las Vegas.
The three-course menu will feature KFC Hawaii’s most popular items, including its new Spicy Shrimp only available in Hawaii. Appetizers include the Spicy Shrimp and Honey BBQ Wings; main course is a choice or a combination of either Kentucky Grilled Chicken, Original Recipe or Extra Crispy; side dishes include home-style biscuits, mashed potatoes with gravy, freshly prepared cole slaw, or rice; and dessert will be Brownie Bites with vanilla ice cream (not normally on the menu).
In the spirit of fine dining, couples can have their photos taken, which will be posted to KFC Hawaii’s Facebook page and website.
