Today the National Restaurant Association (NRA) issued a guide on the future of mobile payment technology and its growing role in the restaurant industry. The paper, “Mobile Invasion: Mobile Payments in Restaurants,” features tools and research that will help restaurateurs better understand the benefits of mobile in growing their business.

“Mobile technology is a new frontier for the restaurant industry,” says Phil Kafarakis, chief innovation and advancement officer for the NRA. “With nearly two thirds of all Americans owning a smartphone it’s important, now more than ever, that our industry find ways to leverage the power of mobile. Our guide will provide a road map for restaurateurs navigating the mobile environment.”

The guide, which is free to NRA members, focuses on the benefits of payment technology, online, and in-app ordering, gift cards, and loyalty rewards programs. The guide also discusses the importance of digital privacy and security for restaurateurs and their customers.

The NRA produced this research paper with mobile loyalty and payment company LevelUp with subject matter expertise from Heartland.
