Jamba Juice Company, a leading healthy, active lifestyle brand, recently received special recognition by President Barack Obama and United States Labor Secretary Hilda Solis for demonstrating the highest level of corporate leadership by actively participating in the Obama Administration’s Summer Jobs USA 2011 initiative.

Last spring, Jamba stepped forward and committed to hire a minimum of 2,500 young people across the country between the ages of 17 and 24. Along with their franchise partners, Jamba exceeded their committed goal by more than 200.

As part of a stepped-up effort to put America’s youth to work, Jamba, along with more than 20 other business and community leaders from the around the country, demonstrated the power of partnership between public and private sector and joined the Obama Administration in the launch of Summer Jobs+.

Summer Jobs+ is the administration’s new call to action for businesses, non-profits, and government to work together to provide pathways to employment for low-income and disconnected youth in the summer of 2012.

In response to the President’s call to action, James D. White, chairman, president, and CEO, Jamba Juice Company, announced that the company will recommit to hiring 2,500 young people and expand their efforts to include an internship/mentoring program targeting Job Corps students in the culinary arts.

The newly designed program seeks to provide engaging opportunities for young people in the culinary arts to help them build their capabilities and skills.

“For more than 20 years, Jamba has been committed to helping build healthy communities and schools,” White says. “We know how important it is for youth to find jobs over the summer in order to attain meaningful work-experience and the job skills essential to their future success.”

"Summer jobs help teach young people about possibilities and provide them with the skills they need to be successful in the workplace,” Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis says. “I'm thrilled that Jamba Juice has joined the growing list of committed partners leading the charge to provide America's young people with opportunities that can make an impact for a lifetime.”

“For many, this will be their first job and a critical stepping stone in their future careers, which we hope will be with Jamba,” White says. “It is a great honor to partner with the President and Secretary Solis in this very important effort.”
