Original ChopShop, Ruggles Green Getting New Prototypes

Leading retail and restaurant design firm starrdesign was selected to develop and oversee prototype redesigns to both Original ChopShop and Ruggles Green restaurant concepts.

The scope of work for both restaurants includes brand development, operational analysis, brand architecture, design, architecture and overall concept build out. Majority interest of both Original ChopShop and Ruggles Green were recently acquired by Hargett Hunter Capital Partners, a private investment firm focused on the hospitality industry.

"We really love working with emerging brands, and while both concepts are established within their markets, we are excited to help further position them for long term growth," says Steve Starr, principal, starrdesign. "We love both the food and the values that helped create Original ChopShop and Ruggles Green, and we look forward to bringing these core values to life in the space."

Original ChopShop is a Phoenix-based fast casual concept with three locations. The restaurants serve protein bowls, salads, sandwiches, fresh squeezed juices, acai bowls, and protein shakes. 

Ruggles Green was founded in 2008 as a premium fast casual restaurant that offers burgers, salads, pizza and pasta. There are currently five locations in the Houston market and it was the first certified Green Restaurant in Houston.

Jason Morgan, former CFO of Zoës Kitchen, will step into the role of CEO for both brands.

"I have worked with the team at starrdesign for many years and have been impressed with the quality of their work and the creative concepts they have produced," Morgan says. "We look forward to collaborating on the evolution of the Original ChopShop and Ruggles Green brands and prototypes."

Original ChopShop and Ruggles Green are just two of the many design projects the team at starrdesign launched in 2016. The company so far has completed work for Reeds Jewelers, Rize Artisan Pizza, Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar, Kick’s Chicken, and HUE, among several additional projects.

Really glad to hear this news that the Ruggles Green Getting New prototypes. It is good to see that both concepts are established in their market and they are becoming the emerging brand nowadays.
