Pancheros Mexican Grill recently surprised the brand’s most dedicated queso consumer with a day at work he’ll never forget.
In celebration of National Queso Day on September 20, the brand held a surprise recognition ceremony at Dahl Ford in Davenport to bestow the first-ever honorary Queso Cup award upon Kyle, a dealership employee.
With an impressive record of 253 queso orders in 11 months, an average of 1.5 queso orders per day, and approximately 155 lunch visits at the Davenport Pancheros located on Utica Ridge Rd., Kyle earned the top honor for ordering the most queso over the past year across the entire country. To commemorate his achievement and commitment to queso, Pancheros team members traveled to where Kyle works, and surprised him with the 2019 Pancheros Queso Cup title, trophy, free queso for a year and a company-wide party catered by Pancheros in his honor.
“When Kyle began visiting our restaurant very frequently, we convinced him to download the Pancheros app so he could take advantage of the Pancheros loyalty program. We’re happy he was on board, as the app kept track of his orders and allowed him to be deemed as the top contender for the Queso Cup,” says Dan Sacco, co-owner of Pancheros in Davenport on Utica Ridge alongside franchisee counterpart Doug Ormsby. “Every restaurant owner desires to have customers who, like Kyle, become such avid fans of the food and the experience. We’re thankful for his business and look forward to providing him with free queso in the year ahead.”
At the surprise recognition ceremony, Dahl Ford employees cheered on their colleague as Kyle was recognized for his queso accomplishments, presented with the Queso Cup and awarded free queso for a year along with other Pancheros fan gear. Following the ceremony, members of the Pancheros team celebrated Kyle alongside the entire dealership with a catered lunch party complete with Kyle’s favorite food item of choice – queso – along with tacos, chips and other customer favorites.
“When I first learned about Kyle’s love of our queso, I was both surprised and impressed,” adds Ryan Murrin, vice president of franchise development and marketing at Pancheros Mexican Grill. “His dedication to Pancheros and our queso is a true testament to just how loyal our customer base is. As the first-ever Queso Cup award recipient, we hope he dons his title with as much pride as we had in presenting it to him.”
In addition to crowning the first winner of the inaugural Queso Cup award, Pancheros is celebrating National Queso day by offering free queso on any entree to loyalty members who have the Pancheros app. Any Pancheros App user as of Sep. 19th will be eligible for this offer, valid from Sept. 20th through Oct. 4th.
Additionally, National Queso Day marks the kick-off of a new year for aspiring queso enthusiasts, like Kyle, to earn the next title of Queso Cup Champion. As the annual competition continues, hungry fans are encouraged to compete for the coveted title in 2020 and the years to come.
