Panda Express, America’s favorite Chinese kitchen, introduced 8 Treasure Chicken Breast, a new better-for-you savory dish created in celebration of the Chinese New Year taking place on Friday, February 16. The festive entree features a wealth of eight quality ingredients, including fermented black beans and Chinese sausage, combined to produce an American Chinese dish that’s rich in flavor and symbolizes good fortune for the year ahead.

Influenced by the bold flavors of Panda Express’ Chinese heritage, the restaurant’s skilled chefs wok-toss together thin strips of juicy all-white meat chicken breast, diced Chinese sausage, red and green bell peppers, celery, fermented black beans, and whole dry chili peppers with a rich, spicy, and savory sauce.

As the purveyor of authentically Chinese inspired food, Panda Express’ colorful new menu item pays homage to dishes from both the Sichuan and Shanghai regions of China, incorporating traditional ingredients for distinct flavor, tailored to appeal to the tastes of American guests.

“8 Treasure Chicken Breast brings together a celebration of our roots with nostalgic Chinese ingredients, such as sausage and fermented black beans, and presents them to our guests in a way that uniquely symbolizes both our American and Chinese cultures,” says Jimmy Wang, director of culinary innovation, Panda Express. “Our hope is that the new dish encourages delicious moments of togetherness and optimism among family and friends this Chinese New Year."

Symbolic of prosperity for the New Year, 8 Treasure Chicken Breast was crafted specifically with the holiday in mind. Packed with seasonal vegetables, chicken breast strips and sausage, the entree has 20 grams of protein and is only 230 calories per serving. For those looking to start the year in a healthful way, the limited-time offering can be found on the restaurant’s WokSmart menu now through March 27.

Panda Express, America’s favorite Chinese kitchen, is best known for its wide variety of original recipes including its Original Orange Chicken, SweetFire Chicken Breast, award-winning Honey Walnut Shrimp, and Shanghai Angus Steak. Founded in 1983 and now with more than 2,000 locations throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, Guatemala, Canada, Mexico, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Japan, Panda Express is part of the family owned and operated Panda Restaurant Group, the world leader in Asian dining experiences that also includes Panda Inn and Hibachi-San.
