During the first quarter of 2009, the new menu was launched and tested in Papa Bello eateries located inside Walmarts in four strategic states. The restaurants each experienced a minimum of 35 percent increases in total sales. The company expects the trend to continue throughout the stores in the additional eight states where the company is currently operating. As Walmart continues to broaden its customer demographic and appeal, updating the menu has been an important and necessary element for Papa Bello.
Inspired by the expansive menu selection recently implemented in Papa Bello's newly opened China location, the popular new items include fresh garden wraps, signature subs, gourmet salads, specialty pizzas and additional pasta entrees. In addition, Papa Bello now offers value meals and more size selections for their subs and pizzas, enabling the consumer to widen their choice selection, budget, and needs.
"The reaction to the new menu has been tremendous," says Chris DiNeno, director of field operations for Papa Bello. "The immediate and dramatic increase in sales during the first quarter is a direct reflection of the positive response by the Papa Bello team members, franchisees, and customers alike. We're excited to see this continue in all current and future stores throughout the country."
