Fast-casual restaurant Pei Wei Asian Diner kicked off a charitable promotion this month as part of #GivingTuesday, a global movement to create a day of giving during the holiday spending season.
Pei Wei is donating $1 (up to $20,000) toward fighting hunger in the U.S. for every fan that participates on the Pei Wei Facebook page from now through Wednesday, November 21.
Each participant will receive a 20-percent-off offer, plus an additional 20-percent-off offer if the $20,000 goal is met.
“During a time when so much focus is given to spending, Pei Wei is giving back with the help of our fans,” says K.C. Moylan, president of Pei Wei Asian Diner. “We encourage everyone to not only participate on Facebook, but find additional ways to give back this holiday season as part of Giving Tuesday.”
How it works is simple. Fans can visit Pei Wei’s Facebook page to “Like” the page and “Submit Pledge” by filling out a simple form, triggering the $1 donations to fight hunger at local food banks.
After entering basic contact information, a 20-percent-off coupon will be generated instantly, which can be used at any Pei Wei Asian Diner in the U.S.
If Pei Wei receives 20,000 “Pledges” by November 21, each participant will receive an additional 20-percent-off coupon on November 27 to commemorate #GivingTuesday.
In its inaugural year, #GivingTuesday provides Americans an opportunity to show they can do much more with their wallets than buy––they can also give back.
Everyone knows “Black Friday” or “Cyber Monday,” and this year #GivingTuesday takes its place in the calendar. It’s a call to action, celebrating that Americans can give as well as we get.
