Movie buffs and culinary fans are invited to join The Great American Takeout for “Dinner & A Movie” presented by Pepsi on Friday, May 15. After ordering take out dinner this Friday, fans can tune in for a YouTube Premiere screening of the award-winning documentary “A Fine Line” followed by a live panel discussion with celebrity chefs and restaurateurs from the film on how they are leading in their communities during COVID-19.

The film, “A Fine Line,” ignites a timely conversation on female leadership in the kitchen and beyond, exploring why less than seven percent of head chefs and restaurant owners are women. The live post-screening discussion will highlight chefs’ personal experiences and how they’re finding creative ways to help restaurant employees and stay in business. Joanna James, director and producer of A Fine Line, will moderate the star-studded panel which includes the following culinary guests:

  • Cat Cora, celebrity chef and restaurateur
  • Tanya Holland, executive chef/owner of Brown Sugar Kitchen
  • Maricel Presilla, the Beard Foundation’s Best Chef-Mid Atlantic region for Cucharamama
  • Val James, owner and operator of Val’s Restaurant

With more than eight million restaurant workers laid off or furloughed as a result of COVID-19, PepsiCo continues to help band eateries and consumers together to support restaurants with The Great American Takeout. Supporting restaurants is as simple as ordering takeout once a week or donating to the National Restaurant Educational Foundation (NRAEF) Restaurant Relief Fund (RERF) to help restaurant workers out of work.

“As COVID-19 reshapes our daily way of life, we’ve witnessed an overwhelming response from people. They want to help – whether that’s supporting restaurants via takeout, donating online or simply tuning into virtual discussions,” said Scott Finlow, chief marketing officer, PepsiCo Global Foodservice. “Dinner & A Movie is about uniting fans, employees and partners in raising awareness and support for the foodservice industry as we collectively look forward to getting back to business.”

The Great American Takeout partnership, Dinner & A Movie event and support of RERF are just a few of the latest PepsiCo initiatives aiming to provide relief. PepsiCo has committed more than $50 million in COVID-19 relief efforts that are primarily focused on providing food and other vital resources for those in need.
