Your own personal pizza. Using only the freshest ingredients. Baked to order. At one low price. In less than five minutes.

Sound too good to be true? Starting Monday, August 12, it won’t be if you stop by the newest location of Pie Five Pizza, which opens its doors at 11:00 a.m. in the Shoppes at Deer Creek Woods in Overland Park. The grand opening marks the revolutionary fast-casual concept’s initial entry into the Kansas City market.

Former Applebee’s president and CEO Dave Goebel, along with his sons Kerry and Kevin, plan to bring 10 Pie Five restaurants to the local area in the months ahead.

“It’s an exciting time because we know we’re on the verge of changing the way people in Kansas City experience pizza,” says Goebel, whose career as a restaurant executive spans nearly four decades. “Once you come in and see how you can order your own customized pizza, with as many toppings as you like, all in about five minutes, you’ll understand what all the fuss is about. It’s delicious, and it’s simply perfect for on-the-go people, which all of us seem to be these days.”

At Pie Five, guests can choose from more than a million combinations of handcrafted pizzas and a variety of specialty pie choices prepared in less than five minutes on one of four crusts. The rapidly expanding chain is capitalizing on growing consumer demand for fresh dining options and artisan pizzas in stylish environments without the wait.

“We see Kansas City as a huge growth market for the Pie Five brand, and there’s no one better to carry our flag here than the Goebels,” says Madison Jobe, chief development officer for Pie Five Pizza Co., a subsidiary of Pizza Inn Holdings Inc. “We’re assembling a group of outstanding franchisee partners around the country that, together with our corporate locations, are making Pie Five one of the hottest brands in the restaurant industry.”

Prior to Monday’s official opening, the new Overland Park restaurant will host three private events to collect donations for Children’s Mercy Hospital. The Goebels have pledged to match all contributions made during these events, with the expectation of generating at least $5,000 in contributions. The family will present a check to a hospital executive during the grand opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 12.

In addition, the first 25 guests in line prior to 11:00 a.m. will receive a $25 Pie Five gift card. (Must be 16 or older. Limit one card per family. Pie Five employees and their family members are not eligible.)

With Monday’s opening, Pie Five will have 11 locations in Texas and one each in Kansas, North Carolina, and Utah. Total announced franchise restaurants under contract currently number 95 in Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.

Pie Five has been named one of “10 Hot New Restaurant Chains from Established Brands” by Forbes.com.
