Pizza Fusion was recognized by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) on Friday as one the top 10 vegan-friendly pizzerias in the U.S. Voted on by PETA members, Pizza Fusion was recognized as “the biggest vegan-friendly pizzeria” for their vegan menu options, including a number of specialty pizzas that can be made with the organic restaurant’s available soy cheese.

“Any way you slice it, Pizza Fusion’s vegan pizza offers all of the flavor but none of the cholesterol and cruelty that come with meat and cheese,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “Pizza Fusion is a great example of the growing number of restaurants meeting America’s hunger for healthy and humane cuisine.”

In addition to pizza, Pizza Fusion also serves vegan brownies, breadsticks, sodas, and wine. The organic, eco-friendly restaurant chain has specialized in vegan options from their early days, prior to launching their franchise program.

“For making a tasty pizza with vegan options, we felt it was only right to include Pizza Fusion on our Top 10 vegan-friendly pizzerias list,” Lindsay Rajt, spokesperson for PETA, states. “By providing vegan options, these pizzerias not only make vegans happy but help show others that you can still have a good pizza that is healthier for you, without any animal suffering. Our list was compiled from the nominations of our very well traveled staff here at PETA who are constantly on the road speaking up for animals.”

Today, a number of Pizza Fusion locations around the country participate in the company’s ‘love your vegan’ day where patrons receive free soy cheese on their pizza.
