Just like infamous former Eagles player, Terrell Owens, Pizza Hut has a lot to boast. On the day of the Super Bowl, the busiest pizza-ordering day of the year, the brand will reveal a new ad promoting a new, lower point redemption level for its loyalty program—Hut Rewards.
Ads are running during the busiest time for pizza orders, on the busiest day of the year for Pizza Hut, which anticipates selling more than two million pizzas. Peak ordering time is exactly one hour before kick-off, and the brand is a sponsor of the NBC Super Bowl Pre-Game Show to strategically air ads then. Hut Rewards as the “faster way to earn free pizza” will be integrated throughout all Pizza Hut Big Game activations—from the homepage, to social channels, digital banner ads to pre-game television creative. More than 50 percent of orders come via digital channels, i.e. apps, pizzahut.com, Twitter and Facebook chatbot, Amazon Echo, and others
Owens is the latest player to join Team Pizza Hut, along with former All-Pro Devin Hester. Hester and the brand announced Hut Rewards members will automatically score free pizza if Hester’s record-fast Big Game score is broken on February 4. Members have to enroll before kickoff to score the pizza.
The Hut Rewards loyalty program continues to be the only national pizza rewards program to offer unlimited points, so every dollar customers spend online goes toward free pizza. New in 2018, Hut Rewards members can now earn a free Medium Two-Topping pizza for only 150 points. In addition, members can earn a free Medium ANY Pizza for 200 points and a free Large ANY Pizza for 250 points.
