Shut-out victories for the Los Angeles Galaxy have generated a new level of excitement this season at Pollo Campero, as 40,000 coupons for free two-piece meals at the chain have been distributed in celebration of its inaugural season at The Home Depot Center in L.A.
The new Pollo Campero location opened in The Home Depot Center on March 27. Under a three-year agreement, Pollo Campero also became an official sponsor of the LA Galaxy soccer team, one of Major League Soccer’s original clubs.
To celebrate the deal, the Galaxy teamed up with Pollo Campero to offer a special promotion during the entire 2010 MLS season. For the “Shut-Out Promotion,” fans have a chance to score free chicken with every home game the Galaxy plays. If the Galaxy hold their opponent to zero goals, every ticket holder receives a coupon for a free two-piece meal at any of Pollo Campero’s 13 Los Angeles locations.
With 14 games played so far this season, the Galaxy have racked up three shut-out victories at home. There are 20 games remaining on the schedule.
“We are thrilled to become a part of The Home Depot Center and to partner with the LA Galaxy organization,” says Ron Azarkman, owner and CEO of ADIR Restaurants Corp., which has 13 Pollo Campero locations in the Los Angeles area. “This is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with soccer fans. The crowds have been very excited about the promotion and are even bringing signs to the game that read, ‘We want chicken!’”
Located next to Soccer Fest pre-game activities, the free-standing concession stand is the first Pollo Campero location in a U.S. sports venue. The restaurant will be open during all events at The Home Depot Center, including soccer games, concerts, and more.
“Pollo Campero is an ideal sponsor for our club,” says Tom Payne, LA Galaxy president of business operations. “We share a large, loyal base of fans who can now enjoy two of their favorite things at the same time: Galaxy soccer and Pollo Campero chicken.”
Also, from June 11 through July 11, customers at Pollo Campero locations throughout the U.S. can celebrate soccer’s biggest event with World Cup commemorative collector’s cups. Two designs will be available, and the large cups will cost $1.99 each.
Los Angeles–area Campero locations also are offering a Futbol Fiesta Meal, which includes a whole chicken (grilled or fried), two family sides, a large order of chips and salsa, four large drinks in World Cup collector cups, and bread or tortillas—all for $24.99.
