Pollo Tropical announced that through its recent You Are Not Alone philanthropic campaign, the restaurant chain raised $100,000 for Susan G. Komen in its mission of breast cancer prevention and education. For every Pollo Tropical Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie or Pecan Pie slice purchased in the month of October, the brand pledged $1 to the organization. The initiative involved 151 Pollo Tropical Florida and Georgia locations.

“We are elated that our guests joined our entire Pollo Tropical team in support of this important initiative on behalf of Susan G. Komen,” says Danny Meisenheimer, president of Pollo Tropical.  “Our employees and guests proudly rallied together in increasing awareness of the fight against breast cancer.”

The monies raised for Susan G. Komen from the Pollo Tropical You Are Not Alone philanthropic campaign will help fund breast cancer prevention and education through the organization’s Florida and Georgia initiatives.

Susan G. Komen is the world’s largest breast cancer organization, funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit outside of the federal government while providing real-time help to those facing the disease. Since its founding in 1982, Komen has funded research, screening, education, treatment and psychosocial support programs serving millions of people in more than 60 countries worldwide. Komen was founded by Nancy G. Brinker, who promised her sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would end the disease that claimed Suzy’s life. That promise has become Komen’s promise to all people facing breast cancer.
