QSR International, a 141-unit multibrand master franchise quick-service restaurant developer conducting business in 15 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, recently celebrated the opening of its 100th Quiznos restaurant in the new Paseo San Francisco Shopping Center in Quito, Ecuador.

Paseo San Francisco is located in the fastest-growing area of Ecuador’s capital city.

This location features the first Quiznos restaurant with two separate storefronts: one offering Quiznos’ toasted sandwiches, salads, soups, and waffle fries; and the second exclusively featuring Quiznos yogurt-based Qrunchers and smoothies.

QSR International entered the Ecuadorian market in 2011 in partnership with QZ Delifastfood Ecuador S.A., which operates in the major cities of Quito and Guayaquil. QZ has six traditional restaurants in operation and one nontraditional restaurant located in the Universidad Catolica, one of the most recognized universities in Ecuador.

Following the opening of Quiznos Paseo San Francisco Shopping Center in Ecuador, QSR International opened its 101st Quiznos restaurant in Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste Costa Rica.

The nontraditional restaurant offers a limited selection of Quiznos signature sandwiches, salads, waffle fries, and coffees.

The opening marks the fourth opening this year for QSR International, which is poised to open an additional 23 restaurants in 2013.

QSR International also owns and operates the Master Franchise for Teriyaki Experience, a Canadian-based Asian food franchise, in Latin American and the Caribbean. It also has obtained the rights to develop Smashburger in Central America, Venezuela, and parts of the Caribbean.

Through a subsidiary, QSR International recently acquired the development rights to open Cinnabon bakery shops in the international airports of Costa Rica.

In addition, and within Costa Rica, QSR International owns, licenses, and operates 30 KFCs, 18 Quiznos, one Smashburger, five Teriyaki Experience restaurants, and one Centenario Rum Bar and Cafe.

Plus, Costa Rica is where QSR International bases a 10,000-square-foot restaurant support center employing more than 110 persons.

Finally, QSR International, through wholly owned subsidiaries, operates several companies including a restaurant supply chain store, an industrial bakery, and a real estate investment company.
