QSR recently won two prestigious publishing awards for its editorial coverage in 2008 and 2009. Folio, a publishing-industry leader, awarded two Eddies to the magazine, one for its November 2008 issue featuring 7-11 and one for its May 2009 investigation into high salt contents in prepared foods.
“I’m proud that QSR maintained its journalistic integrity during one of the worst economic times this country has ever seen,” says Blair Chancey, editor of QSR. “We remained focused on delivering unbiased and thought-provoking news to readers and look forward to doing more of that in 2010.”
QSR was the only publication to win multiple honors in the B2B foodservice and hotel segment of the competition. The November 2008 issue, which explored the growing competition from convenience stores on the quick-service segment, earned a bronze Eddie for best full issue. The publication’s May 2009 look into sodium levels in foods, which featured interviews from Campbell’s Soup Co. and Oprah Winfrey health expert Bob Greene, won a gold Eddie for best single article.
“These awards are a testament to the hard work QSR’s former editor, Sherri Daye Scott, put into the magazine’s coverage,” Chancey says. “She was very happy to hear the news.”
QSR’s submissions were chosen from among 2,000 entries.
These honors continue a history of Eddie wins for the magazine. In 2008, the publication won a bronze Eddie for best full issue for its October 2007 issue and a silver Eddie for best article.
