Churchs Chicken has decided to serve the cravings of its customers with its latest promotion, “Pepper Squeeze”-Southern-style fried chicken drenched with the juice of a jalapeno pepper.
“Customers everywhere have accented our delicious fried chicken recipe with the spicy juice of jalapeno peppers,” said Hala Moddelmog, president of Churchs.
The promotion, launched in late January 2000, offers free jalapeno peppers with discounted purchases of 10 and 15-piece boxes of chicken.
The restaurant sells more than 54 million jalapeno peppers each year. That’s enough jalapenos to stretch 1,900 miles, the equivalent of the distance between the company’s headquarters in Atlanta to Las Vegas. Churchs is the largest seller of jalapeno peppers in the world.
Churchs Chicken, a division of Atlanta-based AFC Enterprises, specializes in Southern-style fried chicken and side items like mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob and its unique honey-butter biscuits. Founded in 1952 in San Antonio, Texas, Churchs has more than 1,400 location in 29 states and eight countries.
