Red Mango has announced a development agreement to open its first stores in Alabama, beginning with a location in Hoover.

David Hurst has signed a development agreement to open three Red Mango locations in Jefferson County, Alabama. Hurst plans to open the first store in Hoover this fall and is eyeing Birmingham for the second site.

Hurst is a Birmingham native and currently resides in Hoover. He has worked in his family’s business at Hurst Pools, the oldest swimming pool contractor in Alabama, for almost 30 years. When he learned of Red Mango, he knew the product would appeal to the Birmingham-area community.

“My niece, who lives in California, told me how great the frozen yogurt market was doing on the West Coast,” Hurst says. “I looked into Red Mango and realized the stores and environment offered the perfect place where people could just go and relax, eat well, and feel good about the product they were consuming.”

Hurst expects to sign a lease in Hoover this month and begin construction on a self-serve location in time to open this fall.

“Hoover will be a great market for Red Mango’s first Alabama location,” he said. “Residents will fall in love with the taste and all the healthy aspects the yogurt, smoothies and teas have to offer.”

Red Mango is currently awarding franchise opportunities in select markets across the country. More information is available at www.redmangofranchising.com.
