Russo's NY Pizzeria Releases Gluten-Free Frozen Pizzas

Pizza lovers everywhere can now get a slice of Chef Anthony Russo’s famous New York-style pizza with his new line of frozen gluten-free pizzas.

Since the gluten-free pizzas were first introduced at many of the 28 Russo’s NY Pizzeria locations, customers have been calling out for more. Chef Anthony is now excited to announce that his pizzas will soon be available to grocers nationwide.

These all-natural pizzas come in six different flavors, including: NY Style Cheese, Greek, Margherita, Chicken Rustica, Pepperoni and Italian Mozzarella, and Russo’s famous Mulberry Special, which is generously topped with Italian sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, and hamburger.

All ingredients of the pizzas will be gluten-free and are made of the finest quality, and are made in a gluten-free facility. Many of Chef Russo’s family recipes originate from Avellino, Italy, and date back to the early 1930s.

“When creating the frozen pizza line, I knew I wanted it to be gluten-free,” Russo says. “There is a large demand for gluten-free products and I want our customers to know we are listening. As we embark on launching the product line in the Southwest, we are keen to work with grocers nationwide.”

Distributors include Randall and Tom Thumb (Austin, Dallas, and Houston stores); Kroger (select locations in Dallas and Houston); Rice Epicurean (all locations in Houston market); Beldens (all locations in Houston market); Reasor’s  (all locations in Oklahoma market); AJ’s (all locations in Phoenix market).

The Russo Pizzeria franchise is also offering the private label program for the new line of pizzas.

We've tried the Chicken Rustica twice. The first time it was great but I thought it was a little salty. (I was the only one who thought it was salty so it was probably me.) Tonight we ate it again and it was all-around great. Really worth a shot despite the price since most pizzerias offering gluten free pizzas have terrible pizza and it's not made in a dedicated facility. I had purchased a CPK pizza for the gluten eaters and my husband decided our pizza was better.

I L-O-V-E! the Mulberry pizza. I've tried many brands of gluten-free pizza's and this is by far the very best! It has a great crunch and a very sophisticated grown-up taste that takes me back to the pizza's I had in Italy. A tad more cheese would be especially awesome! Great job Chef Russo!

I purchased the Mulberry Gluten-Free Pizza today. I liked the crust and toppings. However, the sauce was way too sweet. If you eliminate the sugar, it would be perfect. It could also use more cheese.
