SAJJ Mediterranean, the popular family of food trucks and brick-and-mortars known for its customizable Middle Eastern eats, will add chocolate hummus to their menu at all locations on National Hummus Day (Sunday, May 13). To celebrate the new product launch, SAJJ will be giving away free samples of the chocolate hummus at all six stores, and including free chocolate hummus with all third-party delivery orders on Sunday, May 13. Special offers will also be available to SAJJ Street Eats app users in the week following the product launch.

SAJJ’s chocolate hummus is a healthy dessert alternative that is low in fat, sodium, and carbohydrates, and only 240 calories per 6-ounce container. The innovative dish is made with just six ingredients: garbanzo beans, tahini, cocoa powder, chocolate hazelnut spread, maple syrup, and vanilla extract, and can be enjoyed with housemade cinnamon sugar-dusted chips ($3.95) or on its own ($2).

The new item joins SAJJ’s menu of fully customizable Mediterranean dishes, like pita bread, sajj wraps, turmeric rice bowls, and salads. Each format is filled with the guest’s choice of chicken or steak shawarma, pomegranate chicken, shawafel (a falafel and shawarma combo), or SAJJ’s famous falafel, which was dubbed the ‘best falafel in the Bay Area’ by Zagat SF. Fresh, locally-sourced ingredients are at the heart of SAJJ’s toppings and sauces, which can be mixed, matched, and added at the customer’s discretion. Traditional Middle Eastern beverages like mint and strawberry lemonades, tamarinds, and mint yogurt drink, are all made in-house at each SAJJ location.
