Salad and Go Charities a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious food and education to underserved communities, proudly marks a significant milestone in its mission to fight hunger by serving the one millionth donated salad today at St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, Arizona. This landmark achievement was made possible by Salad and Go’s commitment to supporting the community, which began in April 2020 by providing free meals through its drive-thrus for individuals facing food insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Receiving the one millionth salad donation from Salad and Go Charities is a tremendous honor,” said Danielle McMahon, Chief Operating Officer of St. Vincent de Paul. “Week after week, their generosity has ensured that our most vulnerable neighbors have access to fresh, nourishing meals, offering not just food but also hope and dignity. We are grateful to celebrate this milestone together and look forward to continuing this impactful partnership.”
What started as a response to urgent needs during the pandemic has evolved into the Salad and Go Charities “Salad Donation Program,” which now delivers several thousand salads weekly to organizations fighting hunger. Salad and Go team members have actively engaged with the company’s nonprofit partners over the years, providing training for volunteers and staff on how to assemble salads just like they do in their own stores.
“At Salad and Go Charities, we are thrilled to donate the one millionth salad, marking a significant step in our mission to nourish communities in need,” said Brandi Hale, Executive Director of Salad and Go Charities. “This milestone is not merely a number; it’s about nourishing lives, fostering hope, and creating a healthier future for everyone. Every salad represents our commitment to ensuring that no one goes hungry, and together, we can make a lasting impact.”
Over the past five years, the community service outreach has expanded to include interactive educational workshops for children, titled Healthy Habits, and the Nourishing Communities Grants program, which expand the reach of existing community meal programs serving those facing food insecurity.
Salad and Go Charities was founded by a dedicated group of volunteers committed to sustaining and expanding the community impact programs initiated by Salad and Go. The nonprofit organization is focused on providing nutritious food for communities in need, with its board of directors overseeing initiatives that effectively assist individuals experiencing food insecurity.
