Saladworks, LLC added two new vice presidents to help achieve the goal of 1,000 stores over the next four years. Tom Spadea joins Saladworks as vice president of development and Kris Smith as vice president of brand services. Both will report directly to Saladworks President Paul Steck.

In his new role, Spadea will oversee Saladworks’ development department which consists of franchise sales, real estate, and site management. Chief among these duties will be supporting company growth efforts by leading the sales team in the recruitment and selection of new franchisees. Saladworks has “turbo-charged” its concept and plans to expand from 96 stores to 1,000 over the next four years. Spadea is also in charge of managing Saladworks real estate broker, Site Development Incorporated (SDI).

As vice president of brand services, Smith will oversee the design and construction department as Saladworks prepares to unveil its new store prototype in September. Smith will manage Saladworks University, which trains franchisees and store-level team members. In addition, he will handle procurement and distribution.

“We are excited that Tom has joined our team and Kris has rejoined our team; it’s like having part of the family back,” says Chairman and CEO John M. Scardapane.

Smith returns to Saladworks, where he worked as a regional manager from 2004-2006. Most recently, he served as the director of real estate & construction at Hollywood Tans. He also was the Manager of Development and Construction at Dunkin’ Brands.

Spadea joins Saladworks from Huntington Learning Centers where he served as vice president of franchise development. Prior to that, he was the director of franchising at Rita’s Water Ice. In 2006, Spadea led the team that awarded 219 franchise agreements for Rita’s.
