Saladworks, a fresh-tossed salad franchise concept, is coming to Canada. The restaurant franchise is using its widespread success as a springboard to Canada, its third major international development deal in three years.

Saladworks is proud to announce that a master franchise agreement has been signed in partnership with Mark Zabel, Paul Lalli, Tom Horler, and Marvin Alballi of Vancouver, British Columbia, to develop 30 new locations throughout Canada.

Zabel and Lalli, chairman and CEO respectively, have extensive prior experience with the investment and real estate industries. They are joined by Horler, CMO—and a veteran of the McDonald’s organization and former marketing executive—and Alballi, an executive operator in the Applebee’s, Brinker International, and Burger King organizations.

Together, they total more than 40 years of accumulated expertise in franchising, investment, and restaurant operation.

“I was immediately impressed when I met the senior management team at Saladworks headquarters,” Lalli says. “We have assembled an ‘A team’ with superior knowledge of the local foodservice industry, and their combined expertise and enthusiasm will quickly make Saladworks Canada a major player in our country."

The agreement comes with an aggressive plan to open 30 strategically chosen Canadian locations in 10 years, with the first location set to open in the Vancouver area in late January 2014.

All new Canadian stores will feature the newest addition to the Saladworks menu, Saladworks Carvery.

Saladworks Carvery, first introduced in late 2012, adds a flame grill and a meat-carving station, where customers can choose from four different types of freshly grilled, hand-carved meats to place on any salad creation.

“Bringing our brand to Canada is an important strategic goal,” says John Scardapane, founder and CEO of Saladworks. “The Canadian team is led by talented and passionate individuals. I have great confidence that together, our unique brand of healthy, guilt-free gourmet fair will be an enormous success in Canada.”

Saladworks offers all customers the opportunity to create their own customized salad, which is prepared in plain view by a trained Saladworks team member.

Customers can choose from one of 12 classic Signature Salads, eight Carver Salads, or create their own fresh masterpiece. All of Saladworks’ ingredients are chopped and carved fresh daily in every location across the country.

Saladworks also offers a variety of proprietary soups, fresh wraps, hot Carver sandwiches, and platters for all occasions.
