Houston-based Salata is adding a seasonal favorite to its ingredient list this holiday season. The restaurant will offer smoked turkey as a protein option at its Texas locations, including Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, through December 31.
Known for its custom salads and salad wraps made from guests’ choice of healthy ingredients, Salata’s is rolling out its first seasonal menu offering. The choice of smoked turkey reflects the upcoming holiday traditions. The chain sourced its smoked turkey from Sadler’s Smokehouse, a family-owned operation that has been in business since 1948. Sadler’s pit smokes each breast at its Henderson, Texas, facility for eight to 10 hours over low heat to infuse flavor and retain juiciness.
“This is the first seasonal addition to our menu, but it reflects our year-round philosophy of offering the highest quality ingredients that make healthy eating fun,” says Salata founder Berge Simonian. “We believe that good decisions start with great choices and look to add more high quality ingredients in 2014.”
The smoked turkey pairs nicely with Salata’s regular selection of healthy ingredients. Like many of Salata’s protein offerings, the smoked turkey is gluten-free. In October, Salata announced that its 20 Texas locations were certified gluten-free.
Guests can add smoked turkey to a salad for the same price as Salata’s other premium protein offerings: $3 for a wrap and $4 for a salad.
Rather than pricing by weight, Salata offers an unlimited choice of healthy ingredients—including lettuces, vegetables, beans, fruits, cheeses, seeds, nuts, house-made dressings, proteins and more—for one set price.
