Salata will celebrate the grand opening of its first Illinois location on Thursday, September 4. The 2,200-square-foot restaurant is at 1083 E. Lake Cook Road in the Lexington Commons Plaza in Wheeling.
The Wheeling Salata will be Salata’s 39th in the U.S. To celebrate its newest location, the restaurant will give away a free salad or salad wrap and signature drink to the first 39 guests to dine on grand opening day. The daylong celebration will also include additional giveaways.
At Salata, guests can choose from more than 50 fresh, healthy ingredients—including a variety of lettuce, vegetables, beans, fruits, cheeses, seeds, nuts, house-made dressings, and more—as the staff assembles and tosses the custom salads or wraps. Each is then sold for a set price rather than by weight, and chicken and seafood can be added for a small additional charge. Diners can also purchase soups, breads, and desserts.
In addition, all Salata restaurants are certified gluten-free, and the staff is well trained to handle food allergies or dietary restrictions.
The new Wheeling location is locally owned and operated by Lake Bluff, Illinois, residents Dan and Amanda Campbell, along with Jack and Martha Campbell. The group plans to bring six additional Salata locations to the Chicago area in the next five years.
“We had our first taste of Salata when we visited my parents Jack and Martha in Houston, and we instantly knew we wanted to bring this concept back home,” says Salata franchisee Dan Campbell. “We know Salata’s healthy mission and fresh offerings will be embraced as a great lunch and dinner option in the Wheeling community.”
