Houston-based Salata is expanding its presence in downtown Los Angeles. The salad bar concept, which specializes in tossed-to-order salads and salad wraps, will celebrate its grand opening in California Plaza on Thursday, December 12.

The restaurant, at 300 S. Grand Avenue in California Plaza’s food court, is owned and operated by local franchisee Ara Simonian, who opened the first Los Angeles–area Salata in City National in 2011. With more than 30 years of business and entrepreneurship experience, Simonian has found his passion in offering customers fresh, healthy food that they enjoy.

“Since opening the first restaurant, the Los Angeles community has embraced Salata as a go-to for quick, healthy dining, and we look forward to earning a loyal following at our new location,” Simonian says. “Los Angeles is a mecca of healthy dining, but few restaurants offer the variety and customization of Salata at a very affordable price.”

Every Salata features salads and salad wraps that are tossed for the customer, not by the customer. Rather than pricing by weight, Salata offers an unlimited choice of ingredients, including lettuces, vegetables, beans, fruits, cheeses, seeds, nuts, house-made dressings, proteins, and more, all for one set price.  Additionally, the California Plaza location will be among the first Salata restaurants to have a Greek yogurt bar, featuring yogurt made with live probiotic cultures and rBST hormone-free milk, served with a variety of healthy toppings including fruit, granola, and nuts.

As part of the grand opening celebration, guests who visit the restaurant on December 12 and purchase a salad or wrap will receive a coupon for a complimentary Greek yogurt during their next visit.

The growing salad chain, founded in 2005, opened five new locations in California and Texas in the past six months.

The 1,700 square-foot California Plaza restaurant will serve its full menu Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Greek yogurt will be offered beginning at 8 a.m.
