McDonald’s Holdings Co. (Japan), the largest quick-serve chain in Japan, announced an 11.1% decrease in same-store sales for September compared to the same period a year ago. Systemwide sales were down 7.4% over last year.

The drop in September follows an August sales increase of 0.5% after a price reduction in hamburgers to 59 yen (48 cents) from 80 yen, the first comparable period increase in 11 months.

McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE:MCD) owns 50% of the Japanese unit.
