Schlotzsky’s Inc. (Nasdaq:BUNZ) announced July 7 sales trends of its franchise system for the four-week period of May 2000.

These sales include all restaurants in the franchise system including both franchised restaurants and company-owned restaurants.

Same store sales for the four-week period of May 2000 were a positive 4.8% over May 1999. Average weekly sales were $11,862, an 8.4% increase over the same period in 1999. Systemwide sales for all restaurants in the Schlotzsky’s franchise system (including both franchised restaurants and company-owned restaurants) for May 2000 were $34.7 million, a 7.6% increase over the same period in May 1999. Systemwide sales for the trailing twelve months (June 1999-May 2000) were $417 million, an 11.6% increase over the same period a year ago (June 1998-May 1999).

Schlotzsky’s Inc., founded in Austin, Texas, in 1971, is a franchisor of quick service restaurants featuring made to order sandwiches served on distinctive sourdough bread, along with pizzas, salads, and soups. As of March 31, 2000, there were 750 Schlotzsky’s restaurants operating in 37 states, the District of Columbia and 13 foreign countries.
