SecureConnect Inc. received their recertification for the 5th year in a row as an Approved Scanning Vendor (ASV) by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). The council currently has about 130 vendors worldwide who they have approved as ASV’s making a difficult certification to achieve. The council publishes the list of approved vendors on their website so that merchants can see what companies are validated to perform external vulnerability scans of the internet facing IP addresses of their cardholder data environment, which is a PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) requirement.
As an ASV, SecureConnect is required to go through a re-approval process annually where the council carefully evaluates a vendor to ensure they are maintaining the required standards to perform PCI data security scanning. Vendors must receive a passing grade in order to retain their ASV certification for another year.
“Cybercriminals continue to work high-volume attacks by streamlining and automating their process, so helping merchants with a layered security approach is key,” says Nate Hubert, VP of operations. “Our security specialists are highly experienced in performing vulnerability scans and work hard to maintain the standards set by the PCI SSC. This is something our customers have come to know and trust.”
This ASV certification along with SecureConnect’s robust network security and compliance offerings provides SecureConnect customers with a comprehensive PCI compliance solution. The scanning service is performed automatically on a quarterly basis, but allows for additional flexibility for customers to initiate on-demand scans as needed. This helps provide visibility into new network vulnerabilities that may be created after significant network updates or modifications like a Point-of-Sale upgrade or adding new technology into the business environment.
