Jugo, a healthy, grab-n-go destination from chef and restaurateur Shawn Cirkiel, will celebrate its grand opening on March 20 in Austin, Texas. The restaurant offers a wide selection of fresh-pressed juices and smoothies, as well as freshly made and packaged snacks, salads and hot items from its central downtown location. The restaurant will soft open March 11—19 to offer a limited preview menu with a selection of juices and smoothies. The full menu will debut on March 20.
Jugo adds a health and wellness destination to Parkside Projects’ diverse culinary portfolio, which includes noteworthy local restaurants Parkside, The Backspace, Bullfight and Olive & June. As with all Parkside Projects concepts, the menu items are made in-house daily using only the most seasonal, organic and sustainable ingredients whenever possible.
“As my life has become busier with the continual expansion of Parkside Projects, raising a family and more, I find myself drawn to quick meals and snacks,” says president of Parkside Projects Shawn Cirkiel. “Jugo is a natural extension of that transitional lifestyle and places an emphasis on cooking similarly to the way we eat at home.”
An accessible neighborhood locale for healthy eating on the go, the restaurant designed by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture blends the historic brick building with custom tile, plaster and paneling in a palette of soft whites. Texas pecan woodwork and bright textiles add color as well as the warmth of a home kitchen. For added convenience, jugo’s advanced operating system allows for guests to be able to place an order from their smartphone and pick up fresh items at the restaurant’s full-service counter.
Guests can sip fresh-pressed juices with creative combinations like Pineapple, Beet, Jalapeño and Apple, Spinach, Ginger, whereas the smoothie section of the menu focuses on revitalizing blends such as Blueberry, Kale, Honey, Yogurt. Jugo will also offer Cold Brew Green Tea on tap, the first of its kind in Austin, along with local favorite Cuvee Coffee Cold Brew on tap.
Jugo’s food menu provides a variety of light and fulfilling options broken down by snacks, vegetables, grain and noodle bowls, salads and entrees. Small bites and housemade snacks are available for quick pick up, in addition to salads such as the Cobb Salad with Avocado Dressing and the Spicy Greens Salad with Miso Dressing. For guests in need of a substantial lunch or dinner, a few of jugo’s heartier entree options include Baked Wild Alaskan Salmon andGrilled Rosemary Chicken Breast. The grain and noodle bowl section of the menu boasts several choices like theCoconut Lentil Curry and Tomatillo Black Bean and Brown Rice.
