Shipley Do-Nuts, the doughnut shop that has withstood the test of time with countless fans cherishing its gourmet treats, announced a franchise growth strategy that stands to live up to the company’s slogan to “make life delicious” for more Mississippians. Perfecting the doughnut for more than 80 years with its closely guarded proprietary recipe, the brand plans to add 15 new locations to the Greater Jackson region.

Known for serving warm, glazed doughnuts, which started the brand’s ascension to the top of morning destinations first for Texans and now for fans in seven states, Shipley Do-Nuts has nine locations in Mississippi, and more than 300 shops in total. As Shipley Do-Nuts has evolved, it has expanded its doughnut offerings, which now include more than 60 varieties, as well as its signature Sausage and Cheese Kolache—a soft, puffy pastry wrapped around a savory sausage and cheese filling—and coffee.

“Our commitment to consistently delivering on quality and value are what have hooked Shipley Do-Nut diehards since the beginning,” says Wesley McGaugh, who first introduced Shipley Do-Nuts to Mississippi in1953 along the state’s western boarder in Greenville. “The Shipley Do-Nuts name has become synonymous with mornings for many throughout the state, from Horn Lake in the north down to Jackson and further south to Hattiesburg. As our popularity has grown, so has interest in expanding even more profoundly and we’re acting on that now.”

McGaugh, who now owns two Shipley Do-Nuts shops in Greenville, is leading the brand’s expansion in the state. As the brand’s area developer in Mississippi, he is responsible for identifying qualified prospective franchisees in the Mississippi market and supporting their openings and ongoing operations along with the team at company headquarters. Within the Greater Jackson area and the Gulf Coast, he has prioritized a collection of neighborhoods that have been deemed prime for expansion. The communities include Madison, Brandon, Pearl, and Ridgeland in the Jackson market and Biloxi, Gulfport, Pascagoula, and Ocean Spring along the Gulf Coast where new construction is surging in post-Hurricane Harvey redevelopment.

“Wesley and his team have proven to be fantastic brand ambassadors. He has developed Shipley Do-Nuts into a brand with immense appeal throughout Mississippi,” says Ron Hankamer, franchise director for Shipley Do-Nuts. “He’s determined to support our growth in Mississippi with franchisees who can carry on our tradition. Plus, Wesley will be there every step of the way as we expand, providing extensive support to our operations throughout the region.”
