Shoney’s will say, “thank you” and “happy holidays” this Friday, as it declares December 6, 2013 “National Free Hot Fudge Cake Day.”

It will be the third consecutive year the American brand offers its signature hot fudge dessert at no cost and with no purchase required to its fans and new guests.

“National Free Hot Fudge Cake Day has become an American tradition, just like Shoney’s itself, and we are proud to treat our regulars and new guests to the best dessert on the planet for free,” says Shoney’s chairman and CEO, David Davoudpour. “Shoney’s serves more than 2 million Hot Fudge Cakes each year, but this Friday, as has been done in the past, it will be on the house.”

Shoney’s Hot Fudge Cake has played a key role in the brand’s recent resurgence. Since acquiring Shoney’s in December 2006, Davoudpour has been on a mission to revitalize and reinvigorate Shoney’s family-friendly, Southern-style restaurants.

“Our mission is to be the best family dining restaurant in America,” Davoudpour says. “Every day at Shoney’s, folks can enjoy our fresh quality food at a great value with pristine service. And this Friday, we are treating America to our signature, delicious Hot Fudge Cake as our way of saying ‘thank you for trying Shoney’s and happy holidays to everyone.’”

Shoney’s offer of a free Hot Fudge Cake is available on Friday, December 6, at participating restaurants while supplies last. There is a limit of one dessert per guest and is available for dine-in only. There is no purchase required.
