The Smashburger fast casual has appointed Doug Branigan as senior vice president of franchise operations. The company has sold franchise agreements that will total more than 275 locations over the next five years, and Branigan will play an integral role in this expansion. His extensive industry acumen provides him with team building, training, development, and operational expertise.

Branigan brings Smashburger more than 25 years of restaurant operations experience in family dining, casual dining, and fine dining establishments. Previously, Branigan worked at Mimi’s Cafe as the market partner for Sacramento, California; and Nevada. Prior to working for Mimi’s Cafe, he was the western vice president of operations at Morton’s, where he was responsible for more than 30 restaurants worldwide. Branigan has also served as general manager and regional manager at Chart House Restaurants.

“Given Smashburger’s expected growth and our continual goal of providing better burgers in communities across the country, there is no doubt our franchises are critical components for our company and its future,” Smashburger president Scott Crane says. “Doug’s expertise will help us ensure that Smashburger franchisees have the resources they need to excel while staying true to the Smashburger brand.”
