Smiling Moose Backs Manliest Month of the Year

Smiling Moose Deli’s Mo the Moose will help lead the charge in support of men’s health and prostate cancer, getting behind a world-wide event called Movember. Combining the ‘moustache’ and ‘November’, the Movember event is gaining momentum around the world—men and women everywhere, sport a moustache demonstrating their support for the cause. Taking it one step farther, Smiling Moose Deli will donate a portion of the proceeds from every Mighty Mo! sandwich sold this month to the Movember Foundation.


The Movember Foundation raises awareness along with funds, most recently reporting in 2012 that 1.1 million people signed up to participate, raising upwards of $95 million. Specific directions for “Mo Bros” and “Mo Sistas” are found on the non-profit’s website.


“Aside from the easy way The Mighty Mo! rolls off the mustached lips of all Movember participants,” says Larry Hill, president of Smiling Moose. “The Mighty Mo! is consistently our top-selling sandwich, so we know it will be a good match.” Given the description of the sandwich found on the Smiling Moose Deli website, it’s not hard to imagine why The Mighty Mo! has earned the top spot—the cheeseburger grinder boasts a half-pound of chopped sirloin, with melted American cheese, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, banana peppers, red onions, mayo, and is drizzled with oil and vinegar.


Smiling Moose Deli credits a strong connection to the community as a big reason for the success of its franchise, and steady growth over the past 10 years. Supporting non-profit organizations that promote good health within local communities has proven to be a win-win for the Colorado-based fast-casual franchise. Hot on the heels of October’s very successful ‘Cookies for Colorado’ campaign, supporting Colorado flood victims, Mo is now throwing his weight into Movember, the manliest month of the year.
