Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q has begun a “Freedom Week” program that
allows customers to donate items to U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan. Customers who donate one or more items will receive a free Bar-B-Q sandwich, courtesy of Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q. “Freedom Week” will run July 3rd through July 10th in participating stores.

“We received an outpour of support from the public when they heard about the care packages we are sending to a Navy unit stationed in Afghanistan,” says Richard Averitte, marketing director or Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q. “We thought this would be a great way for them to get involved,” he adds.

Items that may be donated include: magazines, coffee, candy, snacks, batteries, puzzles, games, and anything fitness related. All donations will be shipped to the company’s “adopted” unit deployed in Southern Afghanistan, US Navy EOD Mobile Unit Three. For information about the unit and list of participating stores, visit the company’s blog, www.scnbnc.com/blog.
