MICROS Systems, a provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, announced that SONIC, the nation's largest chain of drive-in restaurants with more than 3,500 locations, has selected MICROS as its strategic enterprise solution partner.

Included in the solution is MICROS’ point-of-sale system for drive-in transactions, as well as MICROS’ enterprise solution, including Enterprise Management, Enterprise Inventory, and Labor, Business Intelligence, and Loss Prevention systems for above drive-in operations.

This enterprise solution will be provided in a SaaS model providing an economic and streamlined approach for SONIC and its franchisees to deploy and maintain its technology.

SONIC’s implementation of the MICROS solution has begun in corporate drive-ins and all new drive-in openings. Installations at existing SONIC franchise locations will follow shortly thereafter.

The MICROS solution will include a new audio system that will enhance the drive-in experience and simplify operations. MICROS also developed customized eLearning content for the SONIC Learning Management System, providing a fully interactive training experience, which reduces drive-in training and provides managers with both training scores and employee feedback.

“We look forward to standardizing our POS and Enterprise Back Office systems across the SONIC brand. MICROS’ ability to quickly understand our requirements and develop a complete solution that exceeds our specific requirements was impressive,” says Craig Miller, senior vice president and chief information officer for Sonic Corp. “We also look forward to improving customer service, operations, and achieving gains in profitability through enhanced loss prevention and better controls on inventory and labor.

“MICROS’ open technology and advanced integration capabilities will support SONIC’s enterprise technology strategy, including enterprise supply chain, SONIC’s customer-facing digital strategy, and significantly enhance SONIC’s business analytics capability” Miller adds.

“We are honored to be selected by SONIC as its strategic technology partner,” says Jenny Kurdle, executive vice president, United States & Canada, for MICROS. “With MICROS’ innovative food and beverage technology solutions, advanced eCommerce capabilities, and open systems platform, we are uniquely positioned to help SONIC increase guest satisfaction, facilitate business operations, and grow its business.”
